Me: Can I have a slice of brown bread?
Lady: Just bread?
Me: Yes
Lady: Brown or white?
Me: Brown
Lady: One? Two?
Me: One.
Me: o_O
I was browsing Android apps trying to find interesting puzzle games when a high rated game caught my eye. The game set puzzles in groups titled computing, memory, intuition etc. I scrolled along to read the reviews and one caught my attention. It said ‘no instructions for intuition, what do you do?’
It is 4am. I’m hiding under my duvet and all is peaceful. Not a sound; Lovely. I know this peace will be shattered soon but I also know there are sausages and bread rolls in the fridge, coffee and chocolate and a new flannel shirt and jeans waiting to be worn, coffee shops waiting for my custom, handsome men abound and food shopping to be gathered. An hour or so in peace and then…….oh I just heard a light switch being switched. Click.
Just back from an ice cream tasting at the Icecreamists store in Covent Garden. I think I tried, if not all then, most of the standard flavours. Dark Chocolate, Glastonberry, and the Ginger, Lemongrass and Chilli being stand out favourites. The Custard ice cream was pretty nice too as was the Coffee, and Caramel, oh and Pistachio. My friend also tried the ice cream alcohol shots they were serving, which got the thumbs up.
Of the new winter flavours they were trialling, the Port and Stilton was a surprise hit in a cone or served in a shot glass with a cracker. An idea floated round that they try serving the Stilton ice cream with poached pears maybe baked figs.
The caramel and salt ice cream was okay; my friend recommended they try serving it with a cone made out of corn chips / tortilla. I felt that after a while the salt was overpowering.
The Baileys ice cream both with or without dark chocolate chips was lovely, the plain ginger ice cream was amazing and packed a real kick and the cranberry sorbet was delicate. Not being a great fan of mint ice cream I didn’t like the chocolate mint, I just thought the flavours weren’t powerful enough though I would be interested in trying a stronger dark chocolate peppermint ice cream if they make one.
It was at this point that I reached my ice cream limit so we decided call it a day, though I was interested in seeing the Haggis and Whiskey ice cream they were meant to be making. Earlier in the evening I’d managed to spill chocolate ice cream down the front of my shirt so decided to take it off and wear just my coat. Went home bare chested with a belly full of ice cream. Definitely be back to try the Knickerbocker Gloryhole sundae and see what summer flavours they have.

‘Do you realise that over two thirds of the world’s surface is covered in water?’
‘I’m not surprised, we’ve had a lot of rain lately.’
Lovely line.
Irrefragable meaning impossible to refute as in the Nat King Cole song Irrefragable that’s what you are.
